Tanko Bushi / Yellow Man
Playwrights: Allan Fujita, Dan Miranda and Marguerite Miranda
Playwrights Dan and Marguerite Miranda have written, produced, danced
and sung in shows throughout Boston for 11 years, raising money for
women and kids with HIV/AIDS. (At the Sign of the Pierrot Theater
Company).
Playwright Allan Shigeo Fujita is interested in the authentic portrayal
of Asian men in our popular culture. As multiculturalism is still
an issue, we continue to present this work as a point of discussion
for audiences young and old. It is set in both 1942 and the present,
in a WWII internment camp for Japanese-Americans. Tanko-bushi is the
coal-miner’s folk dance.
